Abby is a highly experienced Electrical Engineer and Strategic Leader with 20+ years of transformative impact in Uganda’s energy sector, specializing in network operations, quality assurance, and engineering excellence. With his operational rigor and visionary leadership, he has orchestrated large-scale infrastructure projects, optimized grid reliability, and championed sustainable practices across the energy and manufacturing industries.

During his notable tenure at UMEME (Uganda’s largest electricity distributor), Abby held decisive roles as Head of Network Operations, Manager of Quality Assurance, and Manager of Customer Service Management. In these capacities, he oversaw the strategic management of Uganda’s critical electrical infrastructure, including 6,000+ transformers, 11,000+ kilometers of medium- and low-voltage lines, and 426,000+ meter installations. His leadership drove the implementation of standard operating plans that reduced energy losses and enhanced grid reliability for customers.

Abby also directed CAPEX grid expansion projects, fostering stakeholder partnerships and managing a team of 250+ technical staff to deliver projects on time and within budget. Notably, as Stores Controller in his earlier years, he streamlined inventory management for $19 million in annual stock holdings, optimizing procurement processes and reducing waste.

A Certified Asset Manager and graduate of Strathmore Business School’s Management Development Program, Abby combines academic excellence with hands-on expertise. His proficiency spans project management, EPC and Labor & Transport contracts, materials planning, and technical bid evaluation, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 quality standards. Abby’s technical acumen extends to budget and cost control, standards development, and change management, underpinned by his ability to harmonize technical precision with commercial strategy.

Abby actively advocates for quality improvements in infrastructure projects and mentoring young professionals with skills and his leadership continues to shape Uganda’s energy future, ensuring resilient, equitable, and sustainable power access for all
