About ANDREW OYIE, FCCA, CPA
Andrew is a highly decorated finance leader with 15+ years of cross-sector expertise spanning energy, utilities, banking, oil & gas, and telecommunications. A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and Certified Public Accountant (Uganda), he combines academic rigor—holding an MBA from Heriot- Watt University (UK) and a BSc in Economics & Computer Science from Makerere University—with a proven ability to drive transformative financial outcomes in dynamic markets.
As Chief Financial O icer of UMEME Limited (dual-listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange and Nairobi Stock Exchange), Andrew has been the architect behind the company’s 22% ($100m+) revenue surge and $25m+ gross profit growth between 2021 and 2023. His strategic leadership has fortified UMEME’s position as East Africa’s energy leader, balancing operational e iciency with ESG-aligned investments to attract institutional capital and enhance shareholder returns. Under his stewardship, UMEME achieved consistent profit growth and successfully repaid all remaining term loans in accordance with their conditions earning him the 2024 ACCA ESG Award and Young CFO of the Year title.
Prior to his CFO role, Andrew served as Financial Controller and Acting CFO (2018–2021), where he improved financial controls to reduce audit discrepancies and continued to align UMEME’s practices with IFRS and global risk standards.
Andrew’s career began in global audit, where he directed cross-border engagements for clients in Uganda, UAE, South Sudan, Ireland, and Kenya, delivering cost-saving recommendations for firms in oil & gas, telecom, and public sectors. His ability to translate audit insights into operational e iciencies earned him rapid recognition as a trusted advisor in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
A graduate of Strathmore University’s CEO Apprenticeship Programme and Abacus Business School’s CFO Leadership Training, Andrew is celebrated for merging financial precision with sustainable innovation. His ESG frameworks have positioned UMEME as a regional sustainability benchmark, while his mentorship initiatives continue to cultivate Uganda’s next generation of finance professionals.
