Victoria is a trailblazing Engineering and Technical Projects Leader with close to 2 decades of experience of pioneering contributions to energy infrastructure across Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa. Recognized for her strategic vision and technical ingenuity, she has redefined metering innovation, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance, positioning herself as a catalyst for Africa’s energy transformation. As Innovation Director for Metering Technologies at Beacon Energy Metering Limited, Victoria leads the charge in developing next-generation smart metering solutions tailored to East Africa’s evolving energy needs. Her work bridges cutting-edge technology with affordability, driving the region’s transition to efficient, data-driven energy systems.
During her tenure at UMEME (Uganda’s largest electricity distributor), Victoria held pivotal roles as Senior Technical Manager, Head of Metering, and Head of Network Operations, delivering transformative results including the Execution of $70M+ in CAPEX projects, modernizing grid infrastructure and expanding energy access to 500,000+ underserved households. She also oversaw metering operations for 2 million customers, securing $700M+ in annual revenue through precision data analytics and fraud detection systems.
Victoria also spearheaded Africa’s first web-based metering laboratory management system, reducing calibration time by 40% and ensuring compliance with Uganda National Bureau of Standards, where she was co-opted as a member of the Technical Committee representing UMEME. She also directed the deployment of smart prepayment solutions for industrial clients, slashing billing disputes and enhancing cash flow predictability.
An acclaimed electrical engineer and IEEE member, Victoria’s mastery spans smart grid integration, policy frameworks, and sustainable energy transitions. Academically, she holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University and is advancing her strategic insights through a Master’s in Oil, Gas & Energy Management, augmenting her ability to navigate complex energy landscapes.
Beyond technical leadership, Victoria is a vocal advocate for gender equity in STEM and sustainable development. Her vision is rooted in harnessing innovation, data-driven strategies, and cross-sector collaboration to build resilient, inclusive energy systems across Africa.
