About ALLAN RWAKAKOOKO

Allan is a distinguished advocate of the Courts of Judicature of the Republic of Uganda and a long-standing Member of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Governance Institute, with over two decades of robust legal experience to the forefront of corporate commercial law. His deep specialization spans the intricate domains of energy, corporate finance, capital markets, and corporate governance, evidenced by his pivotal advisory and participatory roles in landmark projects such as the Umeme 20 year Concession and the development and implementation of critical Power Sales Agreements and the Repayment Mechanism Agreement for the Isimba (183MW) and Karuma (600MW) hydropower projects.

Allan has been recognized by the Legal 500 GC Powerlist as a leading innovative and outstanding in-house lawyer in East Africa, his contributions have also been acknowledged with the East African Law Society as Distinguished In-House Counsel Service Award for his consistent impact on the growth of In-house Counsel practice within the region.

Currently serving as the Head of Legal Services for Umeme Limited, a prominent entity listed on both the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Nairobi Securities Exchange, Allan's career trajectory includes significant tenures as a Partner at Rwakakooko, Owiny, Kakonge & Company Advocates, Legal and Compliance Manager at the Capital Markets Authority, and Senior Legal O icer at Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited.

Allans academic foundation comprises an MBA from Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh Business School, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University, Kampala.
